Based upon current system conditions and concerns regarding trends in national energy policy, and based upon the findings of recently completed research for the Central/Santee Cooper system, Central supports the following concepts:
- Central may be able to obtain 15% to 30% of Member energy requirements with energy supplied from nuclear fueled generation by 2020.
- Central may be able to obtain 5% to 8% of Member energy requirements with energy supplied from generation produced by "reasonably economic" renewable resources by 2020.
- Central may be able to meet 3% to 7% of Member energy requirements by implementing cost effective energy efficiency and conservation measures by 2020.
The previously stated sources of electric energy that are expected to meet future energy needs must be continuously reviewed and adjusted to reflect current conditions and projected future conditions, therefore, this Statement of Energy Supply is subject to modification and change as conditions warrant.
